Personality Traits

PERSONALITY TRAITS

Find which one are you? Are you sure about your personality traits?

More often we come across people who seem very simple and friendly but as we delve deeper to know about them it becomes more and more difficult and complex. Human character is difficult to understand.

Knowing your own personality traits helps in understanding your own state and people around you. Personally, I am very confused about my own personality trait as it’s a mix of extrovert and Introvert.  I can easily open-up in public and make friends easily but with a difference. I prefer one to one interaction in meeting individuals, rather than the group. I love to spend time with myself, the time which is my own. Time spent with me gives me immense peace. I don’t like to be disturbed or interfered when I am with myself and I get frustrated and uneasy when someone tries to enter that space.

I have read about different types of personalities, generally, they have categorized either Extroverts or Introverts. Extroverts people are mainly outgoing, talkative like to spend time with other people and make friends quickly. They are considered social. On contrary Introverts, are of those shy types, reserved, does not open up easily and they tend to spend time alone.

It’s interesting to know that Introverts comes from Latin intro-,” inward”, and vertere, “turning”. It describes a person who tends to turn inward mentally. Introverts sometimes avoid large groups of people and feel more energized by time alone.

Introvert: (psychology) a person who tends to shrink from social contacts and to become preoccupied with their own thoughts.

Extrovert: (psychology) a person concerned more with practical realities than with inner thoughts and feelings.

Surprising, there is one more trait where I find myself, “AMBIVERTS”, which is between the extreme corners of the scale of extroverts and introverts. This term is new to me “AMBIVERT”, But to simplify, an ambivert is a person who has both introvert and extrovert qualities and may bounce between the two.

Ambivert loves social settings and being around others but they also need their solitude. It's said that balance is the key for ambivert, And too much time on either the introvert or extrovert side will make them moody and unhappy. Its highlighted that Ambivert has a pretty good understanding of people overall and different surroundings/settings.

All these traits have different ways to express their emotions and feelings. Extroverts openly share their feelings and thoughts by expressing to other but for the introvert, their expressions can find their way either through writing a diary, stories, books, and painting to manifest their feelings.

Ambivert sometimes express openly and sometimes hidden. Maybe sometimes they are comfortable to share openly and other times they don’t want to share everything, so they hide it from others. Comfort plays a very dominant role for Ambivert personalities. In true sense, whoever understands the hidden deeper feeling or expression of ambivert gets a special place in their hearts. For ambiverts, this signifies that the other individual gives them full attention and tries to understand the signs of unspoken words, silence, sorrow or pain beneath the smile and actual reason of the despair.

This also applies to introverts, individuals close to introvert have played the same role in reading the signs and understanding the silence of the introvert and their true feelings.
We have stopped communicating or can be said being human to each other. Our selfish nature allows only to interact with people of personal interest.

For effective communication, it is important to know about the individual’s and their personalities.
